Emotional abuse is still alive and well.
Released in 2016, The Covered encapsulates many issues associated with emotional abuse. Alexis Nicole White’s memoir is still timely and relevant as many African American women begin to uncover the consequences of maintaining unhealthy relationships. While combating a plethora of stigmas, Black women contentiously combat toxicity in platonic and romantic interactions that adversely affect one’s ability to maintain healthy images of self-love, self-awareness, and self-concept. Whether from parent to child or romantic relationships, Alexis would like to empower all women to take control of their relationships by optimizing healthy relationships from every perspective.
